Licenses & insurance
What Colorado actually requires — and what we carry.
Here's something most HVAC sites won't tell you: Colorado has no state-level HVAC license. So instead of waving a badge row at you, we'll show you exactly what we hold, what the law requires, and how to verify all of it.
The credentials
What we hold.
- State HVAC license
- Colorado issues none. There is no state-level HVAC license to hold — any company displaying a "Colorado HVAC license number" is showing you something else (usually a business registration). We won't invent one.
- Local requirements
- We operate under TBD City of Aurora / Arapahoe County contractor requirements. Registration details: TBD.
- General liability insurance
- Carried — certificate available on request before any work begins. Coverage details: TBD.
- Workers' compensation
- Carried for every tech who enters your home. TBD.
- EPA Section 608 certification
- Held by every tech who handles refrigerant — federal law requires it, and we verify it. Cert details: TBD.
- Permits
- Pulled on every installation, no exceptions. Repairs that require permits get them too.
Why this page exists
Badge rows are the competitor uniform.
Shield icons saying "Licensed! Insured! NATE!" are on every HVAC site in Aurora — including sites that can't tell you what any of those badges actually require. We'd rather give you the unglamorous truth:
- Colorado's lack of a state license means local compliance matters more, not less
- Insurance you can verify on paper beats a badge graphic every time
- Permits on every install protect your home's resale value, not just our liability
- EPA 608 is federal law for refrigerant work — ask any tech who touches your AC
Our standard, in writing
What "insured and compliant" means here.
- Background-checked techs, every hire
- EPA 608-certified for all refrigerant handling
- Permits pulled on every installation
- Insurance certificate emailed on request — before work, not after
- Combustion and CO safety testing on every heating job
- Installations registered for manufacturer warranty in your name
FAQ
License & insurance questions.
Does Colorado require an HVAC license?
No — Colorado has no state-level HVAC license. Requirements are set by cities and counties. We operate under Aurora's requirements (TBD) and publish our actual credentials here instead of inventing a license number.
Can I see your insurance certificate?
Yes — we'll email it before any work begins. Just ask when you call (303) 568-5036.
Do you pull permits for furnace and AC installs?
Every install, no exceptions. Unpermitted work can haunt you at resale — the buyer's inspector will ask.
Are your techs certified to handle refrigerant?
Yes — EPA Section 608 certification is federal law for anyone who handles refrigerant, and every PeakLine tech who does carries it.
